Data from: A century of wild bee sampling: historical data and neural network analysis reveal ecological traits associated with species loss.
This dataset covers bee sampling conducted at the Evans’ Old Field site in the E.S. George Reserve (ESGR) during 2017 and 2018, alongside historical data spanning 1921 to 1999. Contemporary sampling was performed bi-weekly in summer, employing three methods to capture a wide diversity of bees, and also included plant identification. All collected specimens are stored at Michigan State University. Historical data, sourced from the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology and David Evans’ 1972/1973 collections, were reviewed and standardized, identifying over 4,000 specimens. This comprehensive dataset offers insights into bee populations and plant associations at ESGR, filling in gaps since Evans’ last efforts in 1989.
